Flatulence - Causes And Treatments

Due of the fast and carefree lifestyle that we are living today, flatulence has become a common problem. Generally people who don't care about what they eat, where they eat, and how clean is the food they are eating suffer from flatulence and ibs.

And if people tell you that you are suffering from flatulence only because you are eating junk food, they are clearly misleading you. Sure, junk food can cause flatulence, but there are many other reasons why you maybe suffering from flatulence. Fortunately there are very easy ways to eliminate flatulence.

For most of my life, I was extremely skeptical of homeopathy. Even now, and even after meeting with research scientists like the late Jacques Benveniste, I can't say I really understand how homeopathy works. Moreover, classical homeopathy was as much about finding emotional causes of illness as in dispensing quick treatments for disease.

The favorite remedy for flatulence is over-the-counter Pepto-Bismol. IBS-like symptoms aren't really controlled by Pepto-Bismol, but the "pink" (bismuth salicylate) in the Pepto-Bismol binds hydrogen sulfide so gas isn't smelly. You shouldn't use Pepto-Bismol if you're sensitive to aspirin.

If you can't use Pepto-Bismol, an activated charcoal product may be helpful, but ask your pharmacist if you're taking a drug like Zetia for cholesterol or if you are taking Alli to help lose weight. Either product interacts with charcoal.

Flatulence can be caused either by fasting or by overeating. You need to see at which time you are suffering from flatulence and gas. If it happens after you fast for hours, or even before you have eaten a morsel of food, then clearly your disease is not food related. In fact, flatulence in your case is simply the result of remaining hungry for hours. The best solution to this problem is to start eating something and more importantly, keep eating something every few hours.

One of the better ways in found was eating peppermint like peppermint gum will help reduce your amount of gas. I chew peppermint gum all the time now and the amount of gas I produce is very little.

Another good way to reduce gas is the use of fennel, you can use fennel in a variety of different ways like putting it in tea, eating it straight up, or adding it to salads. I think at one time or another we have taken Pepto-Bismol when we had an upset stomach; that works too but only to a ceratin degree.

Many different products in health supplement stores are great for cleansing the body. As time goes by, our colon can accumulate toxins which result in the same problems as parasite infestations, bloated, acne, flatulence, fatigue etc. Regardless of going to the doctor or the health supplement store, the symptoms must be dealt with asap.

Some of the methods to help relieve gas include baking soda, water, ginger slices, apple cider vinegar, garlic, peppermint, fennel, cayenne, and cinnamon. When using herbs the amount will vary but typically boiling some herbs in water and drinking it will help you with your gas problem.

How to take Zoloft and Activated carbon/charcoal tablets?
I'm starting up on zoloft for depression and anxiety. These illnesses are what caused my IBS, which causes uncomfortable bloating and flatulence. To alleviate those symptoms in public situations (not everyday), I take charcoal tablets. Since charcoal adsorbs chemicals in the gut, how should I space out each medication so that the zoloft doesn't get adsorbed? Dosage: 1 x 50mg Zoloft/day 6x250mg activated carbon/day (3 times a day)

When you get diarrhea(IBS)....?
Why do you get it? Can you get it from eating to much? I think I have a very light form of IBS, and am not sure if I got diarrhea tonight from IBS-triggered foods, or just a bad meal. I ate a lot earlier around 4 or 5. I waited a couple of hours and decided to run today(I run a few days a week). At around a mile, i began to get stomach pain, so I stopped. I was running around 7. It wasn't until around 8-8:30ish that I had to go to the restroom with actual feelings of constipation and diarrhea. It stayed on and off for around an hour and a half. Does this happen, on and off, for normal people? Is this IBS related? Normally I only get IBS when I get cheerios or another specific type of cereal. Really worried that the IBS may be expanding to a broader range of foods. Hope not.
